Verizon: We have the heavy texters

In the month of September, Verizon Wireless says its subscribers sent more than 5 billion text messages, which is a 150 percent increase over last year's 2 billion SMS sent in 2005. The 100 million "PIX and FLIX" multimedia messages (MMS) that Verizon subscribers sent during the month of September may encourage some to point to that market's fragility when stacked up against the 5 billion texts, however, MMS enjoyed the same growth rate as SMS amongst Verizon subs, with an increase of 150 percent in MMS messages year-over-year.
