Verizon Wireless to continue Unlimited Any Mobile in select markets

Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) confirmed it will continue to offer its Unlimited Any Mobile service in select markets. The carrier had planned to discontinue the offering at the end of June.

Verizon's Unlimited Any Mobile service provides unlimited voice calling and texting to any mobile number in the United States, regardless of service provider. The carrier introduced the service in August 2010 in Texas and Louisiana, and has since expanded the service to cover a number of additional markets. According to Verizon's website, the carrier now offers Unlimited Any Mobile in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and select markets in Texas, Tennessee and Florida.

Verizon's Any Mobile provides unlimited talk and text to any mobile number, plus 450 anytime minutes, for $64.99 per month.

Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) kicked off the market for unlimited calling to any mobile number in September 2009 with its introduction of "Any Mobile, Anytime." AT&T Mobility (NYSE:T) subsequently joined the game in February of this year with its "Mobile to Any Mobile" offering. AT&T and Sprint's offerings are nationwide.

The action is the latest in a series of pricing efforts by Verizon. The carrier recently introduced its Verizon Unleashed service, which provides unlimited calling for $50 per month, in a handful of markets. Verizon also today began offering usage-based data pricing for smartphones, starting at 2 GB for $30 per month.
