Verizon Wireless has pit-bull lovers in a tizzy

Verizon Wireless has angered some pet lovers over a 30-second advertisement for its LG Dare phone. The commercial depicts a man attempting to obtain the phone by climbing a junkyard fence and encountering two pit bulls. The dogs with metal choke collars and heavy chains are just a few inches short of the phone because their chains don't reach far enough. So they bark ferociously and lunge at the man. The ad has angered groups including the Humane Society of the U.S., which has asked Verizon to stop airing the ad, PETA, the ASPCA and pet-related websites. The groups are worried the spots increase prejudice against pit bulls and perpetuates the idea that it's okay to chain dogs or own guard dogs. Verizon says it isn't pulling the spots. Article
