Verizon Wireless hires new COO, CMO
Verizon Wireless built on yesterday's announcement of the promotion of Denny Strigl by announcing a new COO and chief marketing officer for the wireless company. Jack Plating has been appointed COO, effective January 1, 2007. Mike Lanman has been appointed CMO, effective first of the year, too. Plating succeeds Lowell McAdam, who was just appointed president and CEO of Verizon Wireless. Lanman succeeds John Stratton who is set to become the CMO of parent company Verizon.

That seems a little unexpected. I thought he was to take over for Ivan. I wonder whats going on there.
