Wi-LAN strikes Apple, Motorola over Bluetooth patents

Wi-LAN, a Canadian technology licensing company, stung Apple, Motorola, Dell, HP and other tech companies with lawsuits, claiming they are infringing on its patents for Bluetooth technology. The firm filed suit against a total of 19 companies in federal court in Texas. Wi-LAN, which had a loss of $1.7 million on revenue of $35 million last year, is most likely looking for a settlement from the companies, analysts said, which could net it a sizeable chunk of money for a company its size.
