The relief effort for Hurricane Katrina moves forward with wireless carriers assessing the status of their networks and beginning efforts to restore service to disrupted regions. In addition, carriers and other wireless companies are also donating generators, batteries, fuel, and personnel to relief efforts. Many companies are donating phones and other devices for use by emergency services. Many wireless companies are providing free phone calls as well as food, water, and other necessities.
