Kindle smartphone

Amazon is developing a high-end 3D smartphone as part of a wider push into mobile and hardware, according to a  Wall Street Journal  report, the latest indication that a smartphone is coming from the e-commerce giant and Kindle purveyor.

An Amazon smartphone could well be announced tomorrow. I really don't know. I have no insider insight into the company. But what I do know is that Amazon has very little chance of being successful in the smartphone market, if it does decide to enter the business. Here are five reasons Amazon would do well to let the rumors of an Amazon smartphone remain just that:

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos declined to comment on rumors that the company will build its own Android-based smartphone. However, he did hint that Amazon will be launching more devices next year.
