InfoVista ramps up SON focus with Mentum acquisition

InfoVista a specialist in performance assurance solutions, said it acquired Mentum, which offers products related services for RF planning, optimization and management of both access and backhaul networks.

InfoVista did not disclose an acquisition price for Mentum, which it said has more than 100 LTE customers. Both companies are based in Paris.

The Mentum purchase represents InfoVista's first acquisition since the company itself was taken over by private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo in March. InfoVista's products provide performance assurance to mobile operators, business service providers, broadband operators and large IT enterprise organizations.

InfoVista said its acquisition of Mentum "strengthens its ability to offer a reliable path to self-organizing networks (SON)." In May, InfoVista introduced VistaSON, which it said is designed to dynamically optimize the capacity and quality of mobile networks.

"The company's acquisition of Mentum demonstrates its commitment to become a major player in providing hybrid SON," said Mark Mortensen, principal analyst at Analysys Mason. "Incorporating real-time information and forecasted network intelligence into the RAN and IP transport planning processes will enable InfoVista to offer the accuracy and efficiency essential for optimized and just-in-time RAN and backhaul investments," he added.

Last month, InfoVista announced that since the beginning of the year, 12 mobile operators have selected VistaInsight for Networks, the vendor's network performance management solution, to manage their migrations to Ethernet mobile backhaul. InfoVista's backhaul assurance customers include MTN, Telstra, Tunisiana and US Cellular.
