NFL adding free Wi-Fi to stadium experience
In an attempt to attract more football fans into the stands, the NFL said it plans to eventually build Wi-Fi hotspots in all 31 of its football stadiums. The Wi-Fi networks, which are expected to be in place by the 2013-14 season, will allow fans to use smartphones and tablets to access apps that will deliver audio from players on the field carrying microphones. The NFL's plan could potentially offer an opportunity for Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, Cox Communications and other cable MSOs to strike a sponsorship deal with the league that would allow the MSOs to market their new CableWiFi brand for Wi-Fi hotspots.
