Apple CEO Tim Cook is once again in the midst of a showdown against law enforcement authorities looking for help in accessing data from one of the company's devices.
Cincinnati Bell Wireless, which is in the process of shutting down its service and selling its spectrum to Verizon Wireless, is facing criticisms from customers than the transition has been anything but smooth. Cincinnati Bell will continue to provide service to its wireless customers through Feb. 28.
Cricket, the prepaid brand owned by AT&T Mobility, said it will change its device unlocking policy starting Dec. 7. The carrier said that, under the new policy, users can unlock their device if they are a Cricket customer in good standing; they have owned and used their Cricket device for at least six months; the device was designed for Cricket's network; and the device was purchased from Cricket or an authorized Cricket distributor.
Phone unlocking hit the headlines in recent days when President Obama signed a bill that would allow U.S. consumers to once again legally unlock their phones in order to be able to change their network operator and retain their device, as widely reported by U.S. media.
Startup FreedomPop may be one of the major beneficiaries of AT&T Mobility's (NYSE:T) decision to begin unlocking the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhones of its non-contract customers. AT&T began
