Mobile payments have traditionally been an emerging market phenomenon but now high-profile U.S. firms are finally starting to jump on the bandwagon. Isis, a joint venture between Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile USA, is starting to gain traction. Meanwhile Sprint, which has decided to go it alone, is making progress with its Sprint Mobile Wallet initiative. Wireless carriers, platform providers, device makers and financial institutions all want a piece of the revenue pie.
