Maximize the Green Efficiency of Multi-Site National Rollouts of Technology

The service industry consumes millions of gallons of fuel and expends trillions of pounds of carbon monoxide in our environment each year as trucks roll to installation and service locations around the globe. Finding ways to reduce truck rolls by eliminating unnecessary travel is a proactive way for service companies to play a role in protecting the environment and to meet federal environmental initiatives and guidelines.

The research and development required to create a methodology that captures these objectives and which decreases the cost associated with multiple truck rolls is, in most cases, beyond the abilities of small-to-medium sized businesses.

In an effort to meet the growing environmental concerns and to provide the service industry with a process that can be implemented in nearly every niche, Concert Technologies has developed and released a methodology to reduce fuel consumption and carbon monoxide emissions by nearly 70%.

HSPA+ for Enhanced Mobile Broadband

WCDMA operators have rapidly launched High Speed Packet Access
(HSPA) services to capitalize on HSPA's mobile broadband capabilities
and increased data capacity. As the natural evolution, HSPA+ further
enhances the mobile broadband experience and increases the capacity
through incremental investments and backward compatible handsets.
HSPA+ Release 7 (R7) is commercial and HSPA+ R8 is targeted for
commercialization during 2010. HSPA+ has a strong evolution path
beyond HSPA+ R8 and the definition of HSPA+ Release 9 (R9) has
already started in the 3GPP standards.

HSPA+ R7 doubles the data capacity of HSPA and more than doubles
the voice capacity WCDMA, enabling operators to offer mobile
broadband and voice at even lower cost. HSPA+ Release 8 (R8)
introduces the first step of the multicarrier feature, aggregating two 5
MHz carriers, which doubles the user data rates to all users in the cell.
While HSPA already supports the full range of packet-based IP services
with integrated Quality of Service (QoS), HSPA+ further enhances the
end-user experience through higher peak rates, lower latency, improved
"always-on" experience and extended talk time. HSPA+ is the optimal
solution for single or aggregated 5 MHz carriers and provides
performance similar to that of LTE in the same bandwidth and when
using the same number of antennas. HSPA+ is the natural evolution of
HSPA and provides next-generation performance through an incremental
and a cost-effective upgrade while leveraging existing investments.

Moreover, there are many ways to make enterprise IP telephony network usage even more attracting. From this white paper, you will learn about: 5 effective ways to reduce expenses for paid calls:

manage your employee telecom expenses effectively by setting limits of expenses for paid calls for each user or user group individually and restrict paid calls when a limit is reached;

cut costs for unwanted calls by restricting calls to specific phone numbers, city/country codes;

eliminate “friends & family” calls and stop paying for private conversations of your employees;

Next Generation Broadband Access White Paper

Global demand for broadband Internet access is as strong as ever. A tough economy, rising

energy costs, and flu epidemics often turn consumers and businesses to broadband as a costeffective

and green alternative for communication, collaboration, and entertainment. Service

providers are not only working hard to expand service coverage and increase subscriber

penetration rates, they are also asking how they can significantly improve interoperability and

network performance, increase bandwidth, and lower latencies for demanding applications such

as IPTV, interactive gaming, and video chat.

Broadband access has reached yet another generation, thanks to the continued advancements in

DSL, introductions of passive optical networks (PONs), optical Ethernet fiber to the premises

(FTTP), and wireless access via Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) or

Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the last mile. The landscape of broadband technologies has

grown more capable and complex with the addition of these exciting alternatives. Decision

makers and technologists alike are faced with choices on access technologies and network

architectures that have long-term implications. The purpose of this white paper is to provide an

overview of next-generation access technologies, and to show how these new technologies can

both enable new services and still coexist with, and make use of, currently deployed broadband

access infrastructure.

The Broadband Forum, successor of the DSL Forum, has recognized the need to shepherd new

access technologies to market since 2005, and has been actively working on incorporating fiber

and other alternative broadband access methods into its standardization work. In doing so, it

strives to align future architectures with the existing global deployment of more than 400 million

broadband lines, while meeting the demands of future applications.
