Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) recently offered reporters a glimpse into its strategy for ensuring communications during natural disasters and other major events. That strategy revolves partially around its COLT: Cell On Light Truck, which can supply up to three days of wireless service wherever it goes. "This truck is an integral part of our operations," explained Hans Leutengger, vice president of Verizon's network for the South. Leutengger said this Verizon COLT is one of 100 such vehicles that the carrier uses to provide emergency service across the country during events like hurricanes, floods and wildfires.
