In addition to following previous reports that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is preparing to launch of a smaller iPad tablet, a New York Times report also noted that Amazon is working on a larger version of its Kindle Fire tablet to compete with Apple's current 9.7-inch iPad. The report, citing a developer briefed on Amazon's plans, did not say how large the new Kindle Fire's screen might be or when it might be released. Previously, analysts have speculated that Amazon will unveil a larger Kindle Fire later this year. Other competitors remain busy as well, with Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 8 Surface tablets set to debut later this year and Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Nexus 7 going on sale. Article
