AT&T's (NYSE:T) Developer Program launched Power Your Future, a new contest promoting more eco-friendly and sustainable approaches to how mobile subscribers live, work and play. From now through September 28, developers can submit applications touting environmental or energy efficiency benefits, entering up to five apps written for iOS, Android or any of AT&T's HTML5-compatible smartphones. AT&T will select eight finalists, and on October 11, the operator will open the voting to subscribers and the general public--in addition, customers will be able to supply feedback on why they selected a particular app. The winning app will receive a $20,000 prize, and the first runner-up will earn $5,000. In addition, AT&T may preload winning solutions on forthcoming smartphones.
Developers can submit Power Your Future entries here. AT&T will honor the winner at January's annual AT&T Developer Summit in Las Vegas, also paying their airfare and lodging.
