AT&T previews Location Information Services solution

AT&T (NYSE:T) previewed its cloud-based Location Information Solution, promising developers and enterprise customers expanded access to domestic location awareness and tracking data. Scheduled to roll out later this year, AT&T Location Information Services--created in collaboration with location-based service provider Loc-Aid--is a managed service enabling corporate assets, employee devices and consumer assets to obtain network-based location data; the solution will supply developers with a single web-services API and a simple on-boarding process to build applications that leverage device location info. In addition, the solution will provide location enablement services like x/y coordinate delivery, geofencing, geocoding and map appends.

AT&T states that Loc-Aid's Location Xchange Gateway platform will enable enterprise developers to create solutions like fraud prevention, mobile marketing, authentication, mobile analytics and asset tracking spanning a series of vertical industries. In addition, AT&T will partner with location services provider TechnoCom to provide turnkey location and messaging solutions to enterprise customers, enabling additional applications built around roadside assistance, transaction fraud prevention, mobile advertising, customer relationship management and mobile workforce management.
