Cisco leads $9.5 million investment in SoonR

Mobile platform developer SoonR announced a $9.5 million Series B investment round, led by networking giant Cisco, earmarked to bolster the expansion of its platform and extend its partner-driven distribution strategy. The SoonR platform enables data devices to access, back up and share desktop files created in applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as access Outlook calendars and email--a solution that dovetails nicely with Cisco's vision for an "intelligent information network" that supports data sharing throughout the network infrastructure. "Cisco was among the first to recognize that a massive convergence between the desktop and mobile worlds was on the horizon, and that next-generation solutions were needed to advance this trend," said SoonR CEO Patrick McVeigh in a prepared statement. "We both believe that crucial business documents will need to be accessible and actionable from the 'cloud,' or the layer of network intelligence, through a myriad of Internet-connected devices."
