Court rejects RIM's appeal

Research in Motion (RIM) has lost in its latest appeal of charges that the company's BlackBerry devices infringe on patents held by NTP. This could potentially force RIM to shut down BlackBerry service in the US, though analysts say that is unlikely. Although NTP has been able to claim a partial victory in earlier court proceedings, RIM was hoping to win on appeal since several of the patents the company has been accused of violating have since been rejected by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
