Echovox, a European mobile content firm, received $5M in funding from Newbury Ventures. The company will use the money to expand its operations and open an office in Paris.

Mobile start-up LimeLife received $5 million in first round funding. The company produces mobile content for women.

The Seven Network, an Australian TV channel, will invest AUS$2 million in mobile content start-up mNet.

Intel has invested an undisclosed amount in Mobilians, a Korean mobile payment firm.

There has also been quite a bit of consolidation in the mobile space. Sybase recently bought Extended Systems, Yahoo bought VerdiSoft, and NeoMedia bought MoBot (see below for details). Meanwhile, m-Wise plans to acquire a small to midsized mobile content provider in the near future to bundle with its mobile content delivery technology. - Eli
