Elance: Mobile developers driving IT jobs recovery

Job postings seeking the services of mobile software developers increased 98 percent between the fourth quarter of 2009 and the first quarter of 2010 according to new data issued by online talent marketplace Elance. While traditional IT skills like PHP, HTML, MySQL and CSS remain the most sought after by employers, mobile development skills jumped 21 places to the number 36 position on the Elance Top 50--iPhone development ranks number 10, with more than 600 new iPhone-related jobs posted on the site in the last month alone. Facebook development follows in the number 16 spot, trailed by Android (number 28) and Twitter (number 37). Apple's new iPad makes its debut at number 40. Elance adds that IT professionals across its online network earned more than $20 million in Q1.
