GetJar launches new developer portal, adds analytics

Independent app store GetJar announced the launch of a new developer portal promising an improved user interface as well as new features designed to maximize application distribution efforts. According to GetJar, the portal introduces a series of free analytics tools enabling developers to compare their downloads against the wider base of applications for more efficient identification of opportunities across specific devices--downloads can be analyzed by build/file, device, platform, operator network, country, phone by nation or phone by network. In addition, GetJar now enables conversion views according to build, phone, operator network and country, as well as trend analysis pinpointing which devices are gaining steam and which are losing ground, again broken down by platform, country and network.

The revamped GetJar portal is available here. "We are continuously looking for ways to help developers publish, promote and analyze their applications," said GetJar vice president of marketing Patrick Mork in an interview with FierceDeveloper. "The new portal offers them different ways to dissect their download data and look at different trends, which is particularly useful if you're a multi-platform developer, or if your application just launched on a new platform. There's a huge range of data here."

Mork adds that GetJar will continue to improve and expand the portal in the months ahead, encouraging developers to offer feedback and suggestions via the firm's Twitter page. "Statistics is the holy grail of what developers need," he said. "We have a lot of things we want to add."
