After announcing last week the launch ICO G1 satellite, mobile media services provider ICO Global Communications said it will partner with mobile electronics and transportation systems supplier Delphi Corp to develop advanced DVB-SH user terminals for its ICO mim mobile interactive media service. Per terms of the deal, ICO retains exclusive rights to all DVB-SH devices developed by Delphi for use in the mobile satellite services spectrum band in North America for the next three years. Delphi is expected to deliver initial units in December 2008 and will design ICO's first aftermarket user devices as well as co-market ICO's interactive mobile video, navigation and emergency communications services to automotive manufacturers. "ICO is poised to deliver a unique interactive suite of mobile services for American consumers, and Delphi's extensive experience in mobile electronics makes them an ideal partner as we implement ICO's go-to-market strategy," said ICO president Craig Jorgens in a prepared statement.
