LiMo Foundation adds new handsets, members

Open source industry consortium the LiMo Foundation announced a new round of LiMo-compliant mobile Linux handsets from members NEC and Panasonic Mobile Communications, bringing its total number of approved deices to 42--the largest number of commercially available mobile handsets produced by any global collaborative development platform organization, the group adds. The LiMo devices, developed for foundation board member NTT DoCoMo, include NEC's PRIME series N-06A and N-07A, STYLE series N-08A and SMART series N-09A, along with Panasonic's STYLE series P-06A, P-08A and P-10A, PRIME series P-07A and SMART series P-09A.

LiMo Foundation also announced two new members: Japanese operator KDDI and haptics technology developer Immersion. Its ranks now total close to 60 members.
