Rumor: RIM eyes Symbian OS

According to a report from Nomura Holdings, RIM's in-house OS is nearing the end of its life and Symbian could be the replacement. Nomura analyst Richard Windsor believes RIM needs to do something within 18 to 24 months in order to stay competitive in the smartphone market. The BlackBerry OS is a bit old fashioned, but I'd be surprised if RIM switched to Symbian. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time I've been surprised about this sort of thing. Blog
