SNAP Mobile launches game developer contest

Nokia announced the launch of its Mobile Rules! Multiplayer Competition event, a game development contest promoting its Java-based SNAP Mobile platform. Announced in conjunction with Europe's Develop Conference & Expo, the Mobile Rules! Multiplayer Competition promises developers a playing field to break into the mobile multiplayer market while still retaining copyright control over their creations. Prizes include contract negotiation and publishing opportunities with Mobile Rules! sponsors, promotion of winning games within Forum Nokia developer communities and game set-up in the SNAP Mobile production environment and online services.

Developers can submit game concepts designed for the SNAP Mobile platform from August 1 to 30 by emailing [email protected]. Winners will be announced in March 2008.

"SNAP Mobile is all about giving developers the tools, resources and support they need to create fun, casual games for the masses," said SNAP Mobile head Antoine Doumenc in a prepared statement. "The Mobile Rules! Multiplayer Competition lets us reach out and find talented, but perhaps unrecognized, developers in a new way that benefits all. Developers gain commercial opportunities, and SNAP Mobile adds innovative games to our growing portfolio of Java- based casual games."
