Sony Ericsson names Content Awards winners

Sony Ericsson announced the winners of its second annual Content Awards competition, which honors the efforts of the third-party mobile content development community. Citing criteria including ease of use, innovation, look and feel, entertainment or usefulness value and, in some cases, audio performance, Sony Ericsson named winners in six categories:

  • Being Productive: Upvise (Developed by Unyverse Pte Ltd)
  • In-Car Applications: GPSed (Developed by Shape Services)
  • It's All About the Entertainment: Bubble Boom Challenge (Developed by ZED)
  • Lifestyle Choice: Mobiles' Republic Media Explorer (Developed by Mobiles' Republic)
  • Themes & Graphics: Flash Lite Wallpapers (Developed by ustwo)
  • Xperia Panels: Spb Traveller (Developed by Spb Software)

In addition, Sony Ericsson handed out a Special Recognition award to Instituto Atlantico & UFC's EcoMate, an educational app that offers tips and ideas on how to live a more environmentally friendly life--according to the handset maker, judges considered EcoMate a great tool to raise awareness about living a greener life and a positive step forward in encouraging environmental responsibility. All winners will be flown to Sony Ericsson's development site in Lund, Sweden for a two-day visit to meet members of Sony Ericsson's senior management team and discuss business with the company's content decision makers.
