Sony Ericsson publishes first Windows Mobile SDK

Days after officially denying rumors its first Windows Mobile-based device the Xperia X1 will miss its fourth quarter launch, Sony Ericsson published its SDK for Windows Mobile 6.1, promising developers a platform to create a host of multimedia applications spanning from music to mobile social networking. According to Sony Ericsson, the X1 boasts nine interactive panels that sit on the phone's touchscreen user interface--users may personalize the panels to enable one-tap access to entertainment, search or productivity apps, including 3D games. The Xperia X1 also features access to Microsoft Office Mobile applications like Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Other bells and whistles of the device: a 3.2 megapixel camera, a QWERTY keyboard, and four-way navigation keys and optical joystick.
