Symbian Foundation adds Access VP Larry Berkin

The Symbian Foundation, the non-profit initiative charged with overseeing the Symbian platform as it evolves into an open-source operating system, named Larry Berkin head of its alliance management efforts. Berkin previously served as vice president of mobile ecosystem and corporate business development at Access (formerly PalmSource)--his new role at the Symbian Foundation will emphasize expanding the organization's partnerships and developer ecosystem, and he will also head its California office. The Symbian Foundation also appointed as general counsel Dietmar Tallroth, former director of legal for Nokia's technology platforms unit.

"We're working hard to get a diverse executive team in place," Symbian Foundation executive director Lee Williams said in an interview with FierceDeveloper. "We're not simply adding people from Nokia and Symbian."
