Synchronica acquires GoodServer

Mobile synchronization and device management software vendor Synchronica announced it acquired essentially all assets of mobile email service provider GoodServer, including intellectual property and existing license contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed. According to Synchronica, GoodServer's technology is already a component of its Mobile Gateway and underpins a number of mobile email products throughout the mobile marketplace. GoodServer is best known for its IMAP4 SDK, POP3 Server SDK and SMTP Server SDK.

"We have always believed that OMA DS and IMAP formed a critical basis for open standards-based vendors to take their slice of the mobile email market. This acquisition will open up mobile email and PIM synchronization to the majority of consumer and corporate mobile phones, with the potential for significant incremental mobile data revenues to operators, ISPs, and service providers," said Andrew Brown, wireless practice director for market research firm Strategy Analytics, in a prepared statement.
