TI selected to power Samsung smartphones

Texas Instruments announced an extension of its agreement with mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics, which will employ TI's wireless technology suite to employ its multimedia and connectivity efforts. Samsung will utilize first and second generations of TI's OMAP platform and BlueLink 5.0 Bluetooth solutions to address a range of consumer entertainment and productivity services across its smartphone line. Already the cornerstone Samsung's Blackjack, the OMAP1710 applications processor will reportedly form the basis for future iterations of Samsung handsets as well, while the OMAP2430 processor is the engine for the Symbian OS-based SGH-i400 device.
