Verious launches Mobile App Services platform, Developer Network

Mobile software development marketplace Verious introduced its Mobile App Services platform, which combines mobile-ready software modules with APIs from industry partners to enable developers and publishers to incorporate real-time, hyper-local data, content and services directly into their mobile applications.

The online Verious marketplace, which exited beta in late 2011, touts a range of pre-built and pre-tested app components, source codes, SDKs and related technologies as well as corresponding license management services, all designed to simplify app project builds across operating systems including Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS and Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android. The new mobile app software modules include local search tools and branded store locators developed on CityGrid APIs, sports news developed in conjunction with The Sports Network, and weather conditions and forecast information created in association with Weather Decision Technologies.

The patent-pending Verious license management platform supports annual and lifetime component licensing, per-user licensing and an array of volume-based models. Partners also can offer premium components, SDKs and pre-built apps on a free trial basis. Verious also touts a Small Business Solutions Center, enabling SMBs to customize pre-built white-label apps from a range of providers, with prices starting at $99.

Verious also unveiled its Mobile Developer Network, which brings together websites, community forums, direct e-marketers and conference organizers with direct reach to over a million mobile app developers across their collective membership bases. Partners include iStockPhoto, iPhoneDevSDK.com, Conference Hound and the Wireless Industry Partnership Connector. According to Verious, sellers of app components, mobile-ready SDKs and APIs, and related design and contract resources can leverage the Verious website to more easily reach the developer community by listing components and templates for free--interested parties can also partner with Verious for customized marketing campaigns and targeted e-newsletters.
