3 UK wins advertising suit vs. O2

3 UK, the mobile phone company owned by Hutchison Whampoa, has won a legal battle with rival operator O2, owned by Telefonica, over 3's advertising, a Dow Jones report said.

The report said O2 had sought to stop 3 UK from making price comparisons against its pay-as-you-go service and also from using its trademarked bubble imagery in advertising.

The advert first appeared in August 2004, with the legal battle lasting more than a year and a half, the report said.
The ruling, made by the UK High Court, followed three other attempts by O2 to block the advertising via the courts, the report said.
