ABI: Huawei overtakes Ericsson to regain top spot in RAN market

Huawei increased its share of the mobile infrastructure RAN market by 7.2 percentage points sequentially to 31.1 per cent in the second quarter, meaning that the Chinese equipment manufacturer has overtaken Ericsson to regain the No. 1 market position, according to ABI Research. The research company added that for the first half of 2013, Huawei reported RAN revenues of 25.6 billion yuan (€3.1 billion), representing an estimated sequential increase of 37.7 per cent and 14.1 per cent year-on-year for the second quarter of 2013. Alcatel-Lucent was the only other vendor to report sequential growth in RAN revenue, with a 3.4 per cent increase, ABI said. However, the vendor retained its fourth position with a 14.3 per cent market share. Ericsson is in second place with 23.4 per cent of the market, followed by Nokia Solutions and Networks is in third position with a 15.9 per cent share. Samsung is in fifth position with 6.7 per cent.
