ABI Research: Lenovo increases share of branded tablets shipments in Q3 2014

Lenovo continued to increase its share of worldwide branded tablet shipments during the third quarter of 2014, although Apple is expected to reverse a nine-month slide in the fourth quarter because its next-generation iPad Air and iPad mini models started shipping in October. According to ABI Research, early vendor shipment share estimates indicate that Apple and Samsung accounted for a combined 62 per cent of the nearly 36 million branded tablets in the third quarter of 2014. Compared to the third quarter of 2013, Apple saw a 12.8 per cent drop in shipments to 12.3 million, while Lenovo registered a 30.4 per cent increase to 3 million. Release
