Adyen: Over a third of global online transactions are now on a mobile device

Adyen's quarterly Mobile Payments Index for the fourth quarter of 2015 revealed that 34 per cent of global browser-based online transactions were conducted on a mobile device, up from 30 per cent in the third quarter of the year and therefore exceeding a third of global online transactions for the first time. The Index also showed that smartphones overtook tablets as the preferred device for making online retail purchases, with 17.5 per cent of transactions in the fourth quarter conducted on smartphones compared to 16 per cent on tablets.
