Alca-Lu to install femtocell network for Chunghwa

Following a competitive tender process, Chunghwa Telecom has selected Alcatel-Lucent to install Taiwan's first femtocell network.

The solution will incorporate the company's Base Station Router (BSR) Femto, as well as service routers and the Home Device Manager technology.

As part of the arrangement, Alca-Lu will also provide project management and end-to-end network integration for the project.

The BSR Femto supports legacy circuit-switched voice and data applications, allowing Chunghwa to keep its existing infrastructure and deliver traffic along subscribers' current broadband services.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
