Affected units will include Alcatel-Lucent France, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and the company headquarters.

A staff meeting was reportedly held on Friday to discuss the cost cutting plan.

The Paris-based vendor announced plans to cut 6,000 jobs company-wide – including 1,000 management positions - late last year

The company will also transfer around 1,000 jobs to HP as part of a global product alliance, and is in talks to sell its fixed-line R&D department.
