Alcatel-Lucent signs Indonesian Ethernet deal

Alcatel-Lucent announced that PT Excelcomindo (XL), a mobile provider in Indonesia, has chosen Alcatel-Lucent's end-to-end solution to provide carrier Ethernet services in Jakarta's business district.

Alcatel-Lucent's comprehensive solution will enable XL to offer reliable and differentiated services to its corporate customers, including IP/MPLS-based virtual leased line (VLL) and virtual private LAN (VPLS) services as well as circuit emulation services.

'Deploying carrier Ethernet services into our network will enable XL to better serve our corporate customers. It will help us to more easily offer high quality communication services that could help businesses and corporations improve their operational efficiency and better meet their business objectives,' said Hasnul Suhaimi, XL president.

Alcatel-Lucent's activities in Europe, Asia and Africa. 'XL will leverage our industry-leading service routing portfolio to bring useful new communications services and features to the businesses of Jakarta.'

Under the terms of the contract, XL will deploy Alcatel-Lucent's IP/MPLS portfolio, including its 7750 Service Router, 7450 Ethernet Service Switch and the 7250 Service Access Switch, all managed end-to-end by the 5620 Service Aware Manger.
