Allot extends video capabilities

Israel-based bandwidth management vendor Allot Communications has completed its acquisition of Oversi Networks – a deal first announced in July.

The firm claims the acquisition enables it to offer a wider range of services through its Allot Service Gateway, including implementing operator video strategies by integrating caching with a portfolio of services including video optimization, analytics and tight integration with both policy and charging.

Oversi’s technology identifies popular content and caches it at the edge of the network, in a bid to enable operators to save bandwidth and minimize delays in video delivery.
