AOL gives away free anti-virus software

US Internet giant AOL launched a free anti-virus program for online users, providing real-time scanning and hourly updates, an AFP report said.

The report said the new software, called Active Virus Shield, was powered by Internet security solutions provider Kaspersky Lab.

AOL would also allow Internet Explorer users to install a free security toolbar when they download the software, the report said.
