Bharti Airtel unveils new brand

Bharti Airtel, India’s biggest cellco, has rebranded itself as Airtel and revealed its combined subscriber base now tops 200 million.

The company unveiled a new logo and brand as it launched its Africa operations on Thursday, as the addition of Zain’s subscribers makes the firm the world’s fifth largest mobile operator.

Airtel is now the “master brand for the company, replacing “Bharti Airtel” in India and the Zain brand in Africa, the company said.

It now offers mobile service in 16 countries in Africa following its acquisition of Zain assets for $9 billion (€6.5 billion) earlier this year.
