BRIEFS

Nokia will expand its 3G radio access solution to enable the sharing of a radio access network (RAN) between as many as four operators.

Roamware says it has completed the proof-of-concept trial for a new hub-based mobile roaming structure.  Once tested and installed, the hubs will provide a single point of contact for operators seeking roaming agreements, eliminating the time-consuming individual and bi-lateral agreement approach in use today.

Fourteen mobile operators - including Cingular, ChinaMobile and Telecom Italia - are participating in a GSM Association initiative to enable contactless payments via mobile phones. The system will be trialed by Korean carrier KTF later this year.
