BT CTO's sudden exit

BT’s high profile group CTO Matt Bross has resigned due to “personal reasons”.

A spokesperson for BT confirmed the CTO’s departure, stating that he will be returning to the US with his family  Bross’s  pivotal position will not be replaced however and  it is understood that BT CIO Al-Noor Ramji will be assuming his duties within his current role.

The departure follows BT’s recent decision July 1 to merge two previously separate divisions into one , BT Innovate and BT Design which combines network and platform development with long-term technology strategy and research. Bross was also CEO of BT Innovate and while he had indicated at the time of the merger of the divisions that he would be staying on as group CTO, he has subsequently decided to leave BT after four years with the carrier.
