BT deploys 2Wire's broadband HomePortal

2Wire, a provider of broadband networking equipment, announced that BT will be using its 2Wire HomePortal gateways to connect customers to its new high speed optical fibre broadband service.

BT is deploying a 100Mb/s broadband fibre to the home (FttH) network in Ebbsfleet in the county of Kent, UK.

The 2Wire HomePortal 2701HGV is a TR-069 standard-compliant intelligent residential gateway that features simplified self-installation, an ADSL2+ modem, an Ethernet network interface, a powerful HyperG wireless router for wireless coverage, support for internet telephony (VoIP) to enable a robust voice and data solution and a firewall for security.

The gateway also enables multiple users to wirelessly share access to the internet while sharing files, printers and networked applications.
