C&W, Prudential slash pension liability

Cable and Wireless said its pension trustee fund had agreed a £1 billion bulk annuity deal with Prudential, according to the Financial Times.

The move halves the fund's £2 billion exposure to liabilities and will be welcomed by investors as Cable and Wireless gears up for a demerger of its European, Asian and US telecoms businesses.
