CCS Insight noted that statistics from The Mobile World suggest that the number of LTE subscriptions worldwide surpassed 1 billion in October 2015. The research company said the information services company for the global mobile industry reported 818 million LTE subscriptions at the end of the second quarter of this year. Based on the fact that uptake has been consistently rising by about 20 per cent on a quarter-by-quarter basis, CCS Insight said the current pattern suggests the industry should now be reaching 1 billion LTE subscriptions. This means that LTE took fewer than six years to reach this threshold, compared to eight years for 3G and over 12 years for 2G services. Release
