CCS Insight: Wearables market to reach 245M units and $25B in 2019

CCS Insight predicts that shipments of smart wearable devices will increase from 84 million in 2015 to 245 million units in 2019. The market will then be worth $25 billion (€22 billion) in 2019, up from $15 billion in 2015. Smartphone companions are the most valuable category in the wearables market, accounting for 61 per cent of the market sell-in value in 2015 and for almost half in 2019. A total of 21 million smartphone companions are expected to ship in 2015, up from 4 million in 2014. The research company said it expects the Apple Watch to account for about 16 million smartphone companion units, a reduction from its previous forecast of 20 million. This is primarily owing to constrained sales of the smart watch in the first quarter of availability as Apple dealt with supply issues. Report
