China Television Media plans mobile TV rollout

(SinoCast via NewsEdge) Shanghai-listed China Television Media, a unit of CCTV, plans to launch mobile TV service with its sister companies.

The company would also combine related HDTV service sales operations under CCTV to form a complete industry chain covering HDTV program production, integration, promotion, sales and service, CCTV VP Li Xiaoming said.

Li said CCTV was also preparing to strengthen research and development of mobile TV service.

China Television Media had joined forces with sister companies to develop the service and offer a better operating model, Li added.

At the moment, China's mobile phone users number 400 million people, indicating good prospects for mobile TV, the company said.
