Cisco completes ClearAccess acquisition

Cisco is adding mobile and fixed-line device management capabilities to its portfolio, after completing an acquisition of US-based software firm ClearAccess.

The privately held firm specializes in supplying service providers with provisioning and management software for residential and mobile devices. Cisco plans to leverage the firm’s expertise to offer a combined network and device management service, which it predicts will improve telcos’ efficiency and customer experience.

With the acquisition completed, Cisco will now begin incorporating ClearAccess staff into its Network Management Technology division.

Jamie Lerner, vice president and general manager of the division, said the deal boosts Cisco’s presence “in mobility, cloud and managed devices, and video,” when first announcing the deal late March.
