Deutsche Telekom awards broadband power contract

Cherokee International, a manufacturer of power supplies, has signed a frame contract with Deutsche Telekom.

Under this agreement, Cherokee will supply its Magellan power solution to power Deutsche Telekom's German broadband network.

The Magellan solution will provide DC power to Deutsche Telekom's digital subscriber line access multiplexers, the devices that link many customer DSL connections to a single high-speed line.

This DSLAM equipment is located outdoors in cabinets, poles and underground locations to bring voice, video and data services to the 'last mile' of telecom subscribers.

Magellan allows remote control and supervision of various parameters in the outdoor cabinet to speed up management response and increase Deutsche Telekom's operational efficiencies.
